The Lt. Joseph P. DiBernardo Memorial Foundation Seminar includes two days with world-class fire service instructors. On Friday evening, you’ll have a unique opportunity to speak one-on-one with your instructors and other fire service leaders who have dedicated their time and support to the Foundation. Saturday kicks off a full day of classroom training. Your registration includes a souvenir T-shirt and buffet lunch on Saturday. On the 15 year anniversary of the September 11th attacks, the Lt. Joseph P. DiBernardo Foundation is proud to present FDNY Deputy Chief Jay Jonas as our special guest for the 2016 “meet and greet.” Chief Jonas, who led his Ladder 6 crew into the World Trade Center to rescue trapped civilians on September 11, 2001, will share his story of survival. He will not only share their harrowing journey out of the collapsed North Tower, but he will also take part in a special Q&A session with you about that tragic day in our nation’s history.

ENGINE COMPANY OPERATIONS

When it comes to training in the fire service unless you’re the firefighter with the nozzle nothing about engine ops is sexy. What I mean by that all the other duties of the Engine are not considered exciting, stimulating or appealing like that of forcing doors, cutting roofs and laddering windows for search and rescue. The facts are it is the engine that puts out the fire, with the teamwork of the members that comprise the team. This presentation will expound upon the challenge, fire behavior, and the efficiency of operations that will get you home safe from the fire ground.
STORE FIRE TACTICS

Fires in stores and other commercial occupancies are severe threats to our firefighters. More firefighters are killed per alarm in commercial fires than any other fire. Fortunately store fires are not everyday affairs, but as a result many departments try to apply “house fire tactics” to store fires, with disastrous results.
PRACTICAL SEARCH OPERATIONS IN RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS

This class will discuss several factors that will influence your search operations in residential buildings today including how to read the different types of layouts before you have to conduct a search. It will also present various techniques and procedures including the tried and proven method of VES, to successfully complete a smart search in the residential buildings you respond to in your departments.
